Melges 19: Your Gateway to the Melges Experience

Melges Performance Sailboats is proud to unveil its latest design: the Melges 19.

Melges Performance Sailboats is proud to unveil its latest design: the Melges 19. Designed in partnership with Reichel/Pugh and built by Melges in Wisconsin, this new three-person, 19-foot one-design delivers affordable fun and performance with signature Melges style.

“The Melges 19 fills an important gap in the market. It’s built for sailors who love speed, simplicity, and sailing with their family and friends,” said Harry Melges III. “The boat is designed to allow for a variety of three-person crew combinations to sail and be competitive.”

The Melges 19 offers a uniquely connected sailing experience, with a light, responsive helm that gives sailors immediate feedback and control. Built on a stable and forgiving platform, it’s as rewarding for experienced sailors as it is approachable for new sailors. The boat doubles as the ultimate crosstrainer - refining your touch, sharpening your sense of movement, and building skills that carry over to every type of sailing.

It’s everything you expect from Melges—fast, fun, and simple with built-in class support.

The Melges 19’s hull shape, daggerboard, and custom dolly/trailer system make transport and launching simple, whether from a beach, boat lift, ramp, or hoist.

The ergonomic deep cockpit is spacious and well-organized, providing comfortable tacks and gybes to accommodate an unlimited composition of teams. Every detail, from the rig to the backstay setup and sail plan, has been carefully designed and tested to make the Melges 19 welcoming for crews of all levels, with just the right amount of power for exciting racing and easy handling. With a target crew weight of 485–535 pounds, the Melges 19 is designed to be inclusive and competitive.

Downwind, the Melges 19 takes off, effortlessly accelerating and planing in as little as 10 knots. Its nimble design responds instantly to input, yet remains remarkably stable and easy to handle across a wide range of conditions.

The Melges 19 is your gateway to the Melges experience. From action-packed regattas and expert coaching to a culture rooted in camaraderie and competition, this is sailing at its best.

The Melges 19 Winter Series kicks off this November at the Melges Watersports Center in Merritt Island, FL. The venue is perfectly suited for easy beach launching and warm-weather sailing. Each of the four events begins with a pre-regatta clinic designed to get every team up to speed.
